Harley davidson golf cart oil blend

The Harley Davidson golf cart is a great old cart, and those who have one consider themselves lucky. This particular car hasn’t been in production for several decades now, and that often means those who buy one won’t have the owner’s manual that goes with the car. One of the most common mistakes new owners make is improper mixing of fuel and oil. Without an easy-to-understand owner’s manual, this error is easy to understand. This article discusses how to properly mix oil and fuel in a vintage Harley Davidson golf cart.

Before we get into the proper way to mix oil and fuel in a vintage Harley Davidson golf cart, let’s be clear about one thing. Improper mixing can lead to severe engine damage. Once this damage has occurred, it must be repaired if you wish to operate the vehicle. These repairs can be time consuming and expensive. While you can certainly find Harley Davidson golf cart parts online, they are not always easy to find. When you find them, the price may be high due to the scarcity of these vintage parts. The best way to avoid having to perform these repairs is to protect your engine with the right fuel and oil mixture.

Now on to the correct way to mix oil for your Harley Davidson golf car:

Many times problems in this area arise because there is not enough dual-cycle oil in the mix. When there isn’t enough oil in the mixture, the first thing that happens is that the piston starts to heat up, followed by overheating of the other engine parts around the combustion chamber. This entire area is prone to overheating which can lead to severe engine damage if the engine is left to run for any length of time. In severe cases, the engine would shut down and would have to be rebuilt in order to return it to service.

In order to get the right mixture in your Harley Davidson golf cart, you will want to use 1.5 ounces of high grade oil per gallon of gas. Note: Almost all other two cycle gas engines use less than this which is why so many people are fooled into making this horrible mistake.

If your Harley Davidson Golf has a recently overhauled engine, you’ll want to use 3 ounces of high-quality two-cycle oil per gallon of gas in the first tank of gas. Once you use that first tank, reduce the oil to 1.5 ounces per gallon of gas. Keep in mind that this first tank (which uses 3 ounces of oil) may foul the seal. Be prepared to change the plug before moving on to the second tank of gas. It is much less expensive to buy a new plug than to rebuild the engine.

Once you apply this mixture to your Harley Davidson golf cart, you will be able to enjoy your car without the fear of burning out the engine. Take care of your old vehicle and don’t forget to pass it on to someone who will take care of it like you do.
